Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 23 July 2026
Turkish Kitchen Meze & Grill is committed to making our website and restaurant accessible to as many people as possible, including guests with disabilities. This statement is written by us and covers this website.
Our target standard
We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. Where a specific criterion is not yet fully met, we are actively working to improve it.
What we do
- Use semantic HTML, clear headings and landmark regions so screen readers can navigate the site easily.
- Provide a skip link so keyboard and screen-reader users can jump straight to the main content of every page.
- Ensure text colours meet a minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio against the background, and interactive elements have a visible focus outline.
- Design the site to be fully usable at 200% zoom and on small mobile screens.
- Respect the prefers-reduced-motion setting to reduce non-essential animation.
- Label every interactive icon with descriptive text for assistive technology.
- Provide meaningful alt text for photography that carries information; decorative images are marked as such.
Known limitations
We are aware of areas we are continuing to improve:
- The OpenTable reservation widget is an embedded third-party service; we have limited control over its accessibility. Guests who prefer can book by phone on 0191 372 7001.
- Some older photography may not have detailed alt text yet — we are updating this progressively.
At the restaurant
- Our dining room is on the ground floor at 66 Saddler Street, Durham.
- Please contact us in advance if you have specific access, dietary or seating requirements — we will do everything we can to accommodate them.
- Assistance dogs are always welcome.
